Was it an impulsive attempt to find their femininity or just a way to freshen up after a match? After all, these girls are tough professionals and it's more than fun and games out there on the wrestling mat.
In any case, store detectives caught the pair of athletes trying to steal 2,000 euros ($2,500) worth of cosmetics during a stopover in the German city, police said Wednesday. Handcuffing them must have been a painful job.
The women, aged 20 and 23, were en route to Guangzhou for the world wrestling championships when the incident occurred on Tuesday evening.
Police detained the wrestlers for questioning, but released them after several hours, by which time they had missed their connecting flight to China.
There were no reports that any of the police officers had been body-flipped or left unconscious from must have been horrendous body odor, considering the desperate theft of eau de toilette.
It is also unclear as to whether the two will still be able to compete in the wrestling event.
Police said the unnamed women would be charged with shoplifting.
