Soldaten und ein bewaffnete Zivilisten kämpfen am 28. Dezember 1989 in Straßen Bukarests gegen Anhänger des gestürzten Diktators. Nach dem Sturz des Diktators Nicolae Ceausescu am 22. Dezember 1989 herrschten in Rumänien bürgerkriegsähnliche Zustände. Mitglieder der Geheimpolizei Securitate, Schergen des selbsternannten "Conducator" (Führer) Ceausescu, lieferten sich mit der auf der Seite des Volkes kämpfenden Armee erbitterte Kämpfe. Ceausescu und seine Frau wurden auf der Flucht verhaftet und am 25. Dezember 1989 von einem militärischen Sondergericht zum Tode verurteilt und erschossen.
