Welcome back. Events are due to to get under way shortly to mark the inauguration of the new US embassy in Berlin. The return of the building to its former pre-war location near the Brandenburg Gate is being hailed as historic. The building is supposed to symbolize American values in Europe but its bunker-like design has attacted controversy. More on that in a moment but first a look at the tumultuous history of the location of the embassy at the Pariser Platz.
