Trump fuels creativity around the world
The Trump name has long been associated with branded hotels, steaks, neckties and golf. But the colorful character's promotion to US President has inspired a new generation of imaginative, unofficial merchandise.
Presidential puppetry
In Neuss, Germany, puppet maker Marcel Offermann spent 150 hours crafting a 1 meter (3ft 7") mini-Trump. Although he specializes in puppets modelled on famous figures, Offermann initially decided not to recreate Trump. Offermann was open-minded about the business mogul’s presidency until his inauguration, after which he chose to make a political statement not usually associated with his puppets.
A pure political statement
The one-of-a-kind puppet is the only of Offermann's creations whose head can be opened, revealing a bathrobe-wearing monkey, a Playboy magazine cover, and a portrait of Trump wearing a crown "because that’s how Trump pictures himself," said Offermann.
The power of Trump in your hand
Anyone who has dreamt of commanding the English language with the self-confidence of America’s 45th president can now buy a pen that will do the talking for them. Jay Kamhi, of Florida, fitted the parody pen with eight infamous sayings in Trump’s real voice, including "We will have so much winning if I get elected, that you may get bored with winning," and "Look - I’m REALLY rich."
Celebrate women with President Trump
Given his controversial comments about women, Trump might seem an odd choice to immortalize as a doll to celebrate girls' health and happiness in Japan. But maker of traditional "hina" dolls, Kyugetsu Co Ltd, has released a Trump doll ahead of the country’s Girls Day next month. In a black and gold kimono with a shock of yellow hair, the doll is one of four based on different influential people.
Invite your pets to the party
For people who want to involve their pets in politics, several different pet toys have popped up around the world. These handcrafted felt cat toys are modeled after famous television characters, other cute animals, and President Trump.
Make your home smell great again
Handcrafted by Kate Dobson in St. Louis, Missouri, this Trump-scented candle has notes of suntan lotion and steak, rounded out by a little yellow wig. It can be paired with another candle that smells like Vladimir Putin - "pine, earth, and smoke billowing from the cities of your enemies," says Dobson.
From cakes and puppets in Germany, to American candles and pet toys, enterprising craftspeople, bakers and artists have opened a door to a whole new world of Trump-inspired merchandise.
