Dortmund coach Thomas Doll told German television channel DSF on Sunday that "we will have to look for a central defender to replace Christoph Metzelder, who is leaving for Real Madrid."

World Cup defender Metzelder will arrive at Real without a transfer fee since he has finished his contract at Borussia.

With their arms still sore from lifting the German league title -- and the numerous post-win refreshment that accompanied it -- Stuttgart have signed Berlin midfielder Yildiray Bastürk to a three-year contract on Monday.

"He was our absolute dream player, and I'm convinced that he will find his spot in our team very quickly," said Stuttgart coach Armin Veh, who also added Nuremberg goalkeeper Raphael Schäfer and Rostock defender Gledson da Silva Menezes to his roster.

Sparta Prague have agreed terms for goalkeeper Jaromir Blazek to join German Bundesliga club Nuremberg, who won the German Cup on Saturday. Blazek, the second choice Czech national keeper after Petr Cech, signed a two-year contract with the German team.

"I wanted to play abroad and the move to Nuremberg will allow me to fulfill this dream," the 34-year-old keeper said. Financial terms of the transfer were not revealed.

Major restructuring at Bayern

While a number of teams buy and sell a few players each, Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has promised radical changes and the team remains a top destination for foreign talent after finishing fourth in the league -- their worst performance in over a decade.

French midfielder Franck Ribery is set to join the Bavarians this summer, a source close to the club said on Friday, in a deal believed to be worth 15 millions euros ($20 million).

"We are interested in signing him, but there is no agreement either with him or with the club," Bayern manager Uli Hoeness said of the 24-year-old Olympique Marseille midfielder.

With the nine million euros transfer of German international defender Marcell Jansen from Borussia Mönchengladbach confirmed on Friday, the club will have splashed out 24 million euros to bolster their squad if the Ribery deal is confirmed.

"This step has been very, very well thought out," Jansen told German sports paper Kicker of the deal estimated at 9 million euros. "From an athletic point of view it could even be the most important move in my career."

Jansen joins fellow German national team player Jan Schlaudraff (Alemannia Aachen), Turkish international Hamit Altintop (Schalke 04) and Jose Ernesto Sosa (Estudiantes de La Plata) as new Bayern signings.

The transfer of Germany striker Miroslav Klose from Werder Bremen remains a possibility, even though the player and his club Werder Bremen have said that he will remain in Bremen.

Bayern will be without Owen Hargreaves, who left Munich after 10 years for a job with English champions Manchester United. Hargreaves joins Mehmet Scholl, Hasan Salihamidzic, Claudio Pizarro and Ali Karimi in a continuing exodus from Bayern that could include Roque Santa Cruz, Daniel van Buyten, Christian Lell and even Roy Makaay over the summer.
