Today marks the tenth anniversary of the start of the NATO bombing campaign in Serbia. On March 24, 1999, NATO launched a series of air strikes in an effort to push Serbian forces out of Kosovo, which was then a Serbian province. NATO said Serb troops had committed atrocities against ethnic Albanians there. Last year, Kosovo declared its independence from Serbia, and relations between the two states remain tense.
