Our journey begins with a cultural expedition to the state capital Schwerin, where we take a look at Schwerin Castle, known as the Neuschwanstein of the North. We also visit the state museum of Schwerin with its high-quality collection of Dutch and Flemish 17th and 18th century painting. From Schwerin, it's off to Müritz Lake and the surrounding Müritz National Park, a paradise for nature lovers and water sports enthusiasts. Müritz is Germany's biggest lake. From here, the wetlands branch out in all directions. The region is known as the Land of a Thousand Lakes. The last item on our itinerary is an outing to the Feldberg lakes in the southern part of the lake district. There, we stop off in the small town of Carwitz where the writer Hans Fallada lived.
