The future of the German car industry is electric. The German cabinet has just approved a plan to accelerate the introduction of electric cars. The goal is to have one million on the roads by the year 2020. The government has pledged to provide financial incentives to car drivers for the first 100 thousand cars -- details won't be finalized until after national elections in September. Germany's car sector is a key part of the economy, but German carmakers are behind their Asian competitors when it comes to producing smaller, more environmentally friendly vehicles.
