Swine flu: New hygiene program in Mexico to prevent the further spread of the virus

European Union health officials say the number of confirmed cases of swine flu in the EU has now risen to 49. The Stockholm-based Center for Disease Control says ten new confirmed cases have been reported in Germany, Spain, Ireland and Italy -- in addition to nine new suspected cases in Britain and Portugal. Meanwhile, in Mexico -- the epicenter of the virus -- the number of people confirmed to have been infected has now risen to nearly 500 -- but many people are apparently deciding that facemasks are now unnecessary.
