New York Stock Exchange names first female leader

After 226 years of trading, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will finally be led by a woman, The Wall Street Journal reported late Monday. Stacey Cunningham will step down as the NYSE's chief operating officer this week to step up into the role of its 67th president on Friday, taking over at a turbulent time for financial markets.
Cunningham, who first started at the NYSE as an intern in 1994, told The Wall Street Journal that she "loved the place right out of the gate" and now she's "excited to be running it."
She succeeds Thomas Farley, who joined the NYSE in November 2013 and will leave to lead a new special-purpose acquisition company.
