NBC Universal plans to start a free television channel in Germany on Sept. 29. A name has not yet been chosen for the channel, which will show movies and series, NBC Universal manager Patrick Vien, who is responsible for the company's TV business outside the United States, told the Süddeutsche Zeitung daily. The channel will be available to 28.5 million households via cable and satellite, Vien said. "We know that the Germans love the heroes of the American film and television industry," he added. The manager said he was hopeful that the channel would gain one percent of the market within a year.
