Jazz live 2015 Franco Ambrosetti eng

None other than the great jazz artist Miles Davis once described him as "the only white trumpeter who sounds like a black one." Davis was referring to Franco Ambrosetti: trumpeter, band leader and Swiss entrepreneur. His business success notwithstanding, Ambrosetti's heart lies in music - and has done so ever since the 74-year-old was introduced to the art by his father.

The family tradition is carried forth by Franco Ambrosetti's son Gianluca, who plays soprano saxophone in the sextet. They are joined by jazz virtuosos Greg Osby on alto sax, bass player Buster Williams, drummer Terri Lyne Carrington and Dado Moroni at the piano. Their first public performance at the Jazzfest Bonn in May 2015 - which you can hear in this live recording - goes along with their CD release "After the Rain," celebrating the art of the legendary jazz saxophonist John Coltrane in his younger years.
