Lehmann retires

Lehmann told Sat.1 television that he'll definitely be quitting after this season, and that he's looking forward to a life outside of soccer.
"Yes, it's enough. It's time to do something else," the VfB Stuttgart keeper said during an interview broadcast on Tuesday ahead of Stuttgart's Champions League play-off at Timisoara. Lehmann's Stuttgart side went on to win the match 2-0.
He added that he was particularly happy to be stepping out of the media spotlight in Germany.
"That's not always such a pleasant thing in Germany. I'm looking forward to that," he said.
VfB Stuttgart President Erwin Staudt, who recently offered Lehmann an extension to his contract, said the side "supported Jens in his plan for his life."
In May, Lehmann said he was considering embarking on a course of study to further his education. He added that he could also imagine working as a soccer coach in future.
He is also set to make his acting debut next year, when he appears as a German talent scout looking for young African footballers in the forthcoming film "Themba."
Lehmann stepped down from the national side following the European championships in 2008 with a total of 61 caps.
The 39-year-old father of two became something of a national hero following his time as goalkeeper for Germany during the 2006 World Cup.
