After Germany U21's 3-0 win against Denmark, young midfielder Joshua Kimmich talked about just how much he wants to play for his new club, Bayern Munich, next season.

"Bayern will be a new world for me, a new challenge. I want to learn, but I wouldn't have changed clubs if I was sure I wasn't going to play a part. That would make no sense. I want to play as much as possible, at Bayern Munich too," said the defensive midfielder a day after Germany's first victory at the U21 European Championships in the Czech Republic.

Kimmich signed for the record Bundesliga champions for around 8.5million euros ($9.2 million) from RB Leipzig and is keen to hit the ground running.

"Bayern Munich could buy any defensive midfielder in the world. If they want me, then it's a great honor. Mr. Guardiola has already told me what he thinks of my quality," said Kimmich about his transfer to Bayern, a club where his idol plays.

"Of course Schweini [Bastian Schweinsteiger] is a great role model of mine, but from next season on we are teammates and so, in a way, we are also competitiors," explained the confident 20-year-old, whose deal in Munich runs until 2020.
