"It may be true that a decision will come soon." That's what Kevin De Bruyne told reporters as he received his award for Lower Saxony's Footballer of the Year on Monday. The Belgian international is giving no clues about where his footballing future will lie.

The latest revalations came on Monday night, as Kevin De Bruyne was a star of the German publication Sport Bild's annual awards night. The Belgian was asked about his future, to which he replied, "I will be a Wolfsburg player this season." According to his agent, Patrick De Koster, though, De Bruyne could still be on the move.

"I am furious by what happened tonight," De Koster told reporters. "No decision has been made on Kevin's future in this transfer window. We have yet to find out if Wolfsburg have reached an agreement with any club."

After his incredible first full season with Wolfsburg in 2014-15, in which De Bruyne bagged 20 Bundesliga assists, speculation surrounding his future has been slow to take off. In recent weeks, though, Premier League club Manchester City have become a thorn in the Wolves' side.

"It will be a difficult fortnight until the end of August," Wolves head coach Dieter Hecking said, speaking at the ceremony for De Bruyne's award. "But if he should leave, I would wish him all the best."

No official bid has been sent to Wolfsburg for De Bruyne, the club insist, however one is expected to be submitted soon.

Decision time looms

"It's possible that there will be an offer in the next few days," Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs told Sky on Sunday, following the club's 2-1 win over Frankfurt.

"At least that's what has been announced, but the case still remains that we don't want to sell him. There are a number of indicators that he will stay."

Whilst being tied to a contract until 2019, Volkswagen owned Wolfsburg don't have a reason to sell. German Sports magazine Kicker have, though, reported that due to the mounting interest in De Bruyne, a one-year contract extension has been offered to the Belgian. The proposed deal, the publication says, would make De Bruyne Wolfsburg's highest earner.

A report from Kicker also suggests that the incoming bid, worth 60 million euros (66.7 million dollars) from Manchester City may have already been made. With just 14 days left in the transfer window, the future of Kevin De Bruyne will need to be decided sooner rather than later.
