One of Italy's most spectacular murder trials has ended in Perugia with the sentencing of US student Amanda Knox to 26 years in prison for the murder of English student Meredith Kercher in 2007. Knox's Italian ex-boyfriend was also found guilty of murder and given a 25 year sentence. The two are believed to have stabbed Kercher to death in a marijuana-fueled sex game in the apartment she shared with Knox in Perugia.
