German sport, mental health and psychology, human interest stories.

After a decade covering German football, Jonathan's recent focus has been on mental health and psychology in sport across the world.

Jonathan studied German at university, before getting a job at sports media agency in Munich.

He joined the DW sports team in 2014, just in time to cover Germany's World Cup glory in Brazil. Two years later, he was the Paris correspondent for Euro 2016. He has continued to cover Germany ever since, reporting at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the delayed 2021 Euros, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the home Euros in Germany in 2024.

Since day one, Jonathan has also covered the Bundesliga, but has also written about an array of sports. He has created and presented social media videos and completed interviews and shows for features on DW's Sports Youtube channel. In 2021, he also launched and produced DW's sports podcast, Project Fussball, a series-based podcast looking at the big issues in German football. The series ran for six seasons.

Jonathan has also written two books.
