Caspar David Friedrich was a German Romantic painter who's best known for his allegorical landscapes that typically portrayed contemplative human figures dwarfed by the drama of nature. In 2014 the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern will be celebrating his 240th birthday. For that occasion photographer Thomas Grundner is following in Friedrich's footsteps for a special project.
