Germany's highest court strengthens the rights of unmarried fathers

Germany's highest court has issued a landmark ruling that strengthens the rights of unmarried fathers. Until now, unmarried mothers could insist on having sole responsibility for a child's upbringing if the couple separated - and the fathers were still obliged to pay child support. The European Court of Justice ruled last year that this discriminated against men and was in breach of European human rights.
