German carmaker Opel maps out the strategy on how to survive independently from General Motors

The German car maker Opel has called for the company to partly break away from General Motors as part of a rescue plan unveiled on Friday. It is calling for the formation of a new car group comprising the US giant's European operations. Opel employs some 25 thousand workers - nearly half of GM's European work force. GM Europe says more than three Bbillion euros of investment would be required for this plan - which will be presented to the German government next week. +++SYN-MAZ++++
