German beer is world reknown - and today it celebrates a special birthday: on April 23d 1516 two Bavarian dukes issued a decree that limits the ingredients used in brewing beer to barley, water and hops. This purity ordinance is followed even today - and not only in Germany. Even in such unliky places such as in the Palestinian territories, where beer consumption is relatively low, we found a brewery that abides by the German "Reihnheitsgebot" - the purity ordinance.
