Eintracht Frankfurt cruised to their third straight victory by beating Kaiserslautern 3-0 on Sunday. Greek international Theofanis Gekas opened the scoring in the 45th minute, and doubled the lead in minute 67.
Seven minutes before stoppage time, Alexander Meier made it 3-0 and Kaiserslautern had nothing to offer against Frankfurt's continued pressure.
Eintracht have now moved up to seventh place in the standings behind new leaders Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund went top on Friday, beating Cologne 2-1. And with former table toppers Mainz stumbling 0-1 against Hamburg on Saturday, Dortmund were able to keep the number one spot on goal difference.
Two Moenchengladbach players sent off
In Sunday's other game, Hoffenheim came from behind to beat Moenchengladbach 3-2. Moenchengladbach had taken the lead with a goal by Raul Bobadilla early on in the game, but Hoffenheim managed to equalize just after half-time.
In the 62nd minute, Moenchengladbach's Juan Arango was sent off with a red card and only five minutes later Hoffenheim took the lead thanks to an own goal by Bamba Anderson.
Hoffenheim's next goal came from a penalty after Moenchengladbach's Sebastian Schachten was sent off for a foul. In injury time Mohamadou Idrissou put the ball into the net, but it was too late for Moenchengladbach to come back.
Hoffenheim are now fourth in the standings while their opponents remain just one place clear of the relegation zone.
