The Council of Europe has urged its 47 member states to ban corporal punishment of children. France has just been ticked off by the council for not being sufficiently clear, binding and specific in its new law on corporal punishment. The ruling followed a complaint against France and six other member states. Regina Jensdottir, the Council's coordinator for children's rights spoke to Emma Wallis.
