Christmas might be a time for tradition, but as our environment changes, it is time to tweak the ways of old in favor of a festive season in which more than the centerpiece tree is green.

While bookies are running odds on the likelihood of this year yielding a white Christmas, the weather forecasters - here in Germany at least - say temperatures could well extend into double figures across much of the country on the 24th of December.
