Festival of Lights – let there be light!
Some have a message, others tell a story: Artists at Berlin's Festival of Lights have installed 40 works. Some of the city's dullest buildings are now once again coming alive.
Into the future
"Creating tomorrow" is the motto of the thirteenth edition of the Berlin festival. Here one vision of the future, created with 3D video mapping and projected onto the facade of the Berlin cathedral. Eleven artists from five countries will be using the facade as a screen until October 15.
That's right!
The law school building at Bebelplatz, also known as the "dresser." The entire square is Illuminated under the motto "Opera e Luce," suggesting a 360-degree projection.
Guardians of time
They're back: Manfred Kielnhofer's "Guardians of time," seen here in front of the TV tower at Alexanderplatz. Kielnhofer says he sought to create a timeless and indelible artistic form, independent of any particular style.
Faces of the city

Kiss me!
This year, for the first time, the facade of the Bellevue Palace is a projection surface for 3D mapping. Video artists from around the world were invited to present their ideas about democracy – here is one of them.
Beautiful without light as well
In 2016 the festival attracted more than 2.25 million visitors. Can even more be expected this year? The Brandenburg Gate remains one of the main attractions – the unmistakable landmark is also being used for messaging.
