BVB: Three Things

Borussia Dortmund picked up their second win in Dubai, beating South Korean side Jeonbuk Hyundai 4-1 at the Al-Wasl Stadium.

Marco Reus' opener was cancelled out in the 10th minute, but Dortmund were never in any doubt as goals from Gonzalo Castro, Joo-Ho Park and Christian Pulisic rounded off a good exercise for the Bundesliga side.

Here are three important things to take away from Dortmund's second win of 2016:

Erik Durm returns from absence:

After six months out, Erik Durm returned to action to play in the second half of the win. The full-back's season hasn't got going yet with a knee operation forcing him to miss all of the Hinrunde. Given the glimpses of talent under Jürgen Klopp, mainly at left-back, the stagnation in his development through injury will be a source of great frustration.

Durm has a realistic chance, when fit, of holding down the right-back position. He is technically stronger than Matthias Ginter and perhaps defensively more sound as well. But as Tuchel said after the match, it will take the defender a few weeks to adjust to the demands of full training.

What can Leitner offer in the Rückrunde?

Moritz Leitner's year to a splendid start with two impressive performances in Dortmund's winter training camp in Dubai. He played the first half in the double-pivot next to Ilkay Gundogan against Eintracht Frankfurt, while taking the reins on his own in the second half against Jeonbuk. If Tuchel was testing the midfielder, who had spells at Augsburg and Stuttgart, then he passed the test with flying colors, assisting for Joo-Ho Park's goal.

With Nuri Sahin injured and Sven Bender struggling to put a run of games together, Leitner could perhaps become Dortmund's third-choice central midfielder. An intelligent passer of the ball who has the characteristics to play in numerous positions, the 23-year-old still has bags of potential. The time is apt for Leitner to regain momentum with his contract expiring in 18 months - the next few months will be key.

And Christian Pulisic scores!

One of two U19 players to be included in the squad, Christian Pulisic made a good impression. The 17-year-old, a USA international at his age level, has racked up the goals and assists at youth level for Dortmund, but his main foray into the first-team will have made the decision-makers across the Atlantic sit up and take notice.

Blessed with speed and technique, Pulisic is beginning to naturally develop into a player with a bright future ahead of him. Although it's too soon to expect Pulisic to challenge for a first-team place, the exposure to the first-team in a semi-competitive environment will do his confidence wonders.
