A Sino-European center for information, education and co-operation has been opened in Beijing just one day after an agreement between China and Europe to allow China to take part in the Galileo satellite program. The agreement, to be signed at the end of October will involve a €230 million investment from China as well as increased cooperation in satellite navigation, technology, industrial manufacturing, market development, frequency and certification. Galileo is part of a broader European drive to increase its presence in space and break with the US and former Soviet Union.
