Bayern Munich's match with Juventus Turin at home ended in a goalless draw, as Manchester United triumphed over Wolfsburg 2-1.

Bayern retains its number one spot in Group A with four points, level with Bordeaux, who won 1-0 against Maccabi Haifa.

Striker Franck Ribery shot one of Bayern's many near-misses in the 19th minute, hitting the crossbar after slinking between two Juventus defenders. Neither team was able to keep up the momentum in the second half.

"We created a lot of chances and it's very disappointing we didn't win. Juventus just had a few shots from distance," Bayern coach Louis van Gaal told reporters.

Munich forward Arjen Robben limped off the field with an injured right leg shortly before halftime.

Van Gaal had a confrontation with officials after the final whistle, getting in the face of a referee who he said didn't add enough stoppage time at the end.

Manchester United's victory at Old Trafford puts them top in Group B, with six points to second place Wolfsburg's three.

VfL Wolfsburg had scored an opening goal from Edin Dzeko, but the lead lasted a mere three minutes before a deflected free kick from United's Ryan Giggs levelled the score.

"It's a pity my goal wasn't enough," Dzeko said.

United midfielder Michael Carrick scored a crisp goal just 12 minutes from the end, securing the victory.

Bayern will next face Bordeaux in Stade Chaban-Delmas on October 21. Wolfsburg are set to host Besiktas JK the same day.
