Ballack's Agent Denies Transfer to ManU

British newspaper The Guardian said Tuesday that Bayern Munich's star midfielder and Germany captain Michael Ballack had already agreed with Premier League club Manchester United about a possible transfer after the soccer World Cup 2006, but the report was hotly denied by Ballack's agent Michael Becker. "There is no contract and no gentleman's agreement," Becker told German news agency dpa. The Guardian had reported that Manchester United's manager Sir Alex Ferguson and executive chairman David Gill had reached a "gentleman's agreement" and Ballack had said that "ManU" was his "preferred goal." Becker confirmed that Manchester United had sent out feelers two weeks ago, but added: "I haven't conducted any talks with Manchester about Michael Ballack and thus there haven't been any negotiations about a preliminary contract or a statement." At the same time, the 28-year-old Ballack, whose contract with Bayern runs out in 2006, is said to have been offered an extension by Bayern Munich. "There are good chances that Ballack will stay with FC Bayern even after the contract ends on June 30, 2006," Bayern Munich's executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenige said.
