Afghanistan - Germany's top soldier Schneiderhahn resigns
Constanze TressNovember 26, 2009
Today's resignation was quick and unexpected and occurred without any prompting from the opposition parties. The attack on the tankers and the information or possibly disinformation given to the public would be a minefield for just about any politician, and especially those holding high office. In actual fact, the Bundeswehr is not subordinate to the government but to parliament, the representatives of the people. In that capacity, the Bundestag expects to be told the unadorned truth - and woe betide anyone who tries to pull the wool over the parliamentarians' eyes.
